Shisendo in May

Its a little known fact but Kyoto's peaceful and serene Shisendo temple celebrates its foundation and existence in May each year. Friends and employees of the temple are invited to a private function in the temple itself which is closed to the public however the glorious garden is open to everyone and on just that one day each year - admission is free! Its always worth paying the 500yen anyway but what a score if you happen to drop by and receive the gift of entry on the 23rd of May!

Here's a sneak peek of Shisendo in May..

The azaleas were just starting to bloom sadly - only a week or so later these shrubs were completely covered in pink.  Apparently they were a little late this year.
